Divas of Design: Celebrating Women Landscape Architects
April 3, Williamette University, Salem OR
I am fascinated by the first women-owned landscape design firm in Oregon, Lord and Schryver who designed the lovely gardens of DeepWood Estate in Salem, Oregon. Three notable professionals will be sharing their research results and experience of how Northwest women shaped landscape architecture. Tickets are limited. Event registration is $45. Presented by the Lord & Schryver Conservancy.
Trillium Festival and Native Plant Sale
April 10 – 11, Tryon Creek State Park
Each year the Friends of Tryon Creek State Park and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department welcome spring with the annual Trillium Festival at Tryon Creek State Natural Area. Enjoy a native plant sale, guided nature hikes, children’s crafts and activities, local vendors and live music performances at the only all-urban state park in Oregon ! This community event supports the education and restoration programs of the Friends of Tryon Creek State Park. Trillium Trail and festival area is wheelchair accessible. A new shuttle service this year promises to ease parking congestion.
Master Gardener Recertication

Gardens for Healthy Aging, plant problem diagnosis and rain gardens will be covered in this bi-annual all day conference for all metro Master Gardeners. I will be there with bells on my toes!
HPSO Spring Plant Sale
April 17 – 18, Portland Expo Center
The official start of spring garden fever kicks off with the Hardy Plant Society spring plant sale. Specialty nurseries and garden artists will tempt you with their wares. This is a not-to-miss plant sale in the Portland metro area. Bring your wallet and leave your significant other at home!
Gardens in Senior Living Seminar
April 23, Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital Auditorium
Seminar focuses on providing a greater understanding of the benefits of specialized gardens and horticultural therapies – among those who serve older adults – especially those with memory disorders. Sponsored by the Friends of the Portland Memory Garden. Pre-registration is needed by March 23 for $75, after March 23, $90.
OSU Master Gardener Washington County Chapter Spring Plant Sale
April 24, 8:30 – 3:00pm, Kinton Grange 19015 SW Schools Ferry Road
Perennials, shrubs, ferns, natives and bare root plants are available for $1.00 – $3.00 each. A bargain plant shopper paradise. Yard art and raffle items to support the Master Gardener program will also be offered. Leave your credit card at home – only cash or checks accepted at this event.
