I can’t believe it’s March already! The garden shows in February were inspiring. Now it’s time to put shovel to dirt with these events:
Plant Nerd Night
March 5, 6:00pm St Luke Savior Church, Lake Oswego
An underground garden geek event coordinated yearly by Mike Darcy and sponsored by KXL Radio and Black Gold. I plan on leaving at 4:00pm to wait in line by 4:30pm to get one of the limited seats. If you have not attended this in the past it is a real plant geek collection. Six specialty nursery speakers have 10 minutes to show off their new little pretties to ooohs and aaahs from the crowd.
UnGarden Art Show
March 6, 11:00am – 6:00pm McMenamin’s Grand Lodge, Forest Grove, OR
Cracked Pots which holds a summer recycled art fair is expanding to Forest Grove. Over 50 recycled artists will take over the grand lodge with their uniquely crafted items. Admission is free. Stay for nibblies and visit Sake One down the street for Oregon-made sake for a complete day event.
2010 Orchid Show and Sale
March 6 – 7 10:00am – 4:00pm, Doubletree Lloyd Center Hotel
Thousands of exotic orchids and companion plants will be on display and for sale at this yearly event. Sponsored by The Oregon Orchid Society. Admission is $7.00.

Lun Su Chinese Garden: Spring Plant Sale
March 20 – 21 10:00 – 3:00pm, downtown Portland
The Portland Classical Chinese Garden has changed its name which still throws me off. They are holding their annual Festival of Fragrance and popular plant sale in a* new* location. One block north of the garden at NW Third and Flanders. No admission fee is required for the plant sale. 2010 HPSO Annual Meeting
March 27, 8:00am – 1:00pm Kaul Auditorium, Reed College
Program opens with annual state of the society address, election of new officers and features a presentation by Lucy Hardiman on Full Frontal Gardening. There will also be a seed sale, fundraiser and books for sale. The annual meeting is FREE and open to active HPSO members. Registration is required.
