Smith & Hawken Stores Closing Nationwide

Say it isn’t so! Another victim of the recent economic times, The Oregonian reported Saturday, July 10, that all stores will be liquidated by November 2009 by its parent company ScottsMiracle-Gro. Smith & Hawken was created by Dave Smith and Paul Hawken over thirty years ago.

Growing from a small retail store in Mill Valley, California to over 56 stores nationwide and online catalog sales, the retail chain became a fixture in the upscale home and garden world. The tradeshow displays at the NW Flower & Garden Show was stunning this past February. Be sure to stop by the store and bid a fond farewell to the employees at the only store in Oregon located in the NW 23rd district.
